For thin, sleek protection that preserves the look of your iPhone 13 Pro Max while keeping it safe from scratches and scuffs, you can't go wrong with the Arc Pulse iPhone 13 Pro Max Case, which is so thin it's almost like your phone isn't in a case at all.

The better the drop rating, the less you have to worry about a shattered screen or your phone turning off, never to come back on again.

What are Consistently top-notch iPhone Case Today?

Lamothe Paris cases has brought many of its iPhone 12 case designs to the iPhone 13, including such popular luxury leather cases models as the Himalaya Luxury Leather, and the Lyon Collection (the purple and black limited edition). Lamothe Paris's leather case with built-in MagSafe cost AED 2100 more. (I'm partial to MagSafe cases because they give you the option to attach a MagSafe accessory directly to the case, not your phone.) All the new models have good drop protection (13 to 16 feet, depending on the model) as well as Speck's Microban antimicrobial protection. The cases start at $40 in various color options, but Speck often gives a discount for first-time buyers.

for iPhone 13 selling for around $20 on Amazon . I like the ombre version . However, these aren't equipped with MagSafe.

Use the best iPhone 13 Pro Max cases to give the ultimate iPhone a new look or to keep your expensive flagship phone safe from potential dangers.

What if I don't want to replace my phone?

If you don't care about replacing phones when they're caput, or you just don't think you'll drop it at all, you can shift your focus to more aesthetically-pleasing cases that don't rely as much on hardy materials to protect your device.

What are the environmental concerns?

And if that wasn't green enough, every case sold results in a tree being planted.

What are the Incipio's features?

Incipio promises 8-foot drop protection and raised bezels around the display, which aren't to be sniffed at, but if you want absolute assurance that your phone will survive any kind of fall, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Best cases for iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

Need a case for your new iPhone 13? Here are our top options for iPhone 13, Pro and Pro Max cases -- and many are MagSafe-compatible.

Top inexpensive MagSafe case

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Mag Amazon MagSafe cases can get pretty pricey, but If you're looking for a inexpensive clear MagSafe case for your new iPhone 13 series phone, Spigen's Ultra Hybrid Mag is a good value at around $20. Spigen also sells a non-Mag version of this case for about $5 less and has several other iPhone 13 case options. I also tried the Spigen Mag Armor case but found that accessories stick better to the Ultra Hybrid Mag.

No drop rating is listed for the case, but Spigen's transparent cases feel like they offer reasonable protection. If you want a tough case with stronger protection, the Spigen Tough Armor case, which includes a kickstand, is an option for $17, but I personally prefer Spigen's Ultra Hybrid cases (the Ultra Hybrid S also has an integrated kickstand).

Note that a lot of these cheaper clear cases have a habit of turning yellow and degrading over time (and becoming less translucent), but they're cheap enough that you probably won't mind shelling out for a replacement case for your Apple iPhone if that happens.

MagSafe case and stand combo

Moft Case, Stand and Wallet Set This is a pretty cool option for those looking for a MagSafe case, plus a MagSafe wallet that converts into a stand. Moft is selling the combo in a few different color options in a pre-Black Friday sale for $58. That's a good deal for a nice case and really good MagSafe wallet/stand accessory that stores up to three credit cards.

Best slim OtterBox cases

OtterBox Symmetry Series Plus OtterBox made a name for itself with its super protective Defender series case, but most people want something less bulky these days. The Symmetry series is slim with beveled edges, making it a good mix of sleek and protective. A raised bumper helps act as a screen protector.

Multiple color options are available, including clear, and I'm a fan of the new Symmetry Plus Clear for MagSafe (pictured in the middle in red). The Symmetry Plus Pop case, pictured on the left, integrates a PopSockets PopGrip and is wireless charging-compatible, which is important. The Symmetry Series Plus case on the right (in pink) is available in various colors and also has a MagSafe version for $10 more.

Prices range from $50 to $60. OtterBox offers a discount for first-time buyers on its site.

OtterBox's Commuter case offers raised bezel protection, is also pretty slim and has grips on the back. I'm a fan of that model, which also comes in a version with MagSafe for $10 more.

Excellent MagSafe case

LifeProof See MagSafe I've received many case samples and this is currently one of my favorites. OtterBox owns LifeProof and you can certainly see (excuse the pun) the influence on LifeProof's See MagSafe case, which arguably has a slightly cleaner look and better lines than OtterBox's Symmetry Series cases.

This case is also available in a clear version without MagSafe for $10 less ($50), but this case is the better choice if you're at all interested in MagSafe. It comes in a few different color options (the model shown here is listed as purple/pink but it reads more as burgundy) and is designed to withstand drops up to 6.6 feet.

LifeProof's other cases -- the Next ($80) Fre ($100 ) and eco-friendly Wake ($40 ) -- return for the iPhone 13, and while they're certainly good and also have MagSafe (except for the Wake), I think the See is probably the best of the bunch for everyday use. They all feature the same 6.6-foot drop protection, though the flagship Fre and Next offer better dust- and water-resistance than the See.

LifeProof, like several other case-makers, has become more green in recent years. The Wave is made with 85% ocean-based recycled plastic, while LifeProof's other cases are made with 45-50% recycled plastic.

What are Speck iPhone 13 cases?

Speck cases Speck has brought many of its iPhone 12 case designs to the iPhone 13, including such popular transparent models as the Presidio Perfect-Clear and Perfect-Clear with Grips, and the Presidio2 Pro (the pink one above).

What Else Can I Get for a MagSafe Case?

Moft Case, Stand and Wallet Set This is a pretty cool option for those looking for a MagSafe case, plus a MagSafe wallet that converts into a stand.

What is a wallet/stand accessory?

That's a good deal for a nice case and really good MagSafe wallet/stand accessory that stores up to three credit cards.

What is the OtterBox Symmetry Series Plus Case?

The Symmetry series is slim with beveled edges, making it a good mix of sleek and protective.

What is the cheapest case for iPhone 13 series?

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Mag Amazon MagSafe cases can get pretty pricey, but If you're looking for a inexpensive clear MagSafe case for your new iPhone 13 series phone, Spigen's Ultra Hybrid Mag is a good value at around $20.

Best basic iPhone 13 case: Smartish Gripmunk with MagSafe

Smartish Gripmunk with MagSafe for iPhone 13 Best basic case for iPhone 13 Like previous versions of the case we've recommended going back to the iPhone 7, the Gripmunk for the iPhone 13 is a great slim, protective, and affordable case but it's plain. There's now a version with MagSafe.

$20 from Amazon $20 from Walmart Also available for these iPhones:

Smartish Gripmunk with MagSafe for iPhone 13 Pro Smartish Gripmunk with MagSafe for iPhone 13 Pro Max

Smartish's Gripmunk , through many names and minor tweaks, has been our favorite basic iPhone case for half a decade. It's no surprise to see this case once again best the competition when it comes to the iPhone 13, especially now that Smartish has improved on the tried-and-true design by adding a MagSafe magnet for a small premium. A non-MagSafe version is available for $5 less, but it's better to spend the extra Lincoln now rather than having to buy a whole new case if you decide you want to use MagSafe down the line.

The Gripmunk is a one-piece protector made of soft, rubber-like plastic (TPU, or thermoplastic polyurethane) with enough give for you to easily install it on your phone but not so much that it will stretch out, and the case's corners won't pop off when you don't want them to. The back is smooth, while the perimeter has a pebbly texture that, combined with three small grooves on the left and right sides, provides a noticeable amount of grip. We prefer cases that cover the iPhone's buttons but don't dampen the clickiness, which the Gripmunk thankfully gets right. And although we can't vouch for exactly how protective the air pockets in the four corners are, I can personally attest to the case's ability to withstand more than a few drops.

Source: nytimes.com Smartish Gripmunks with MagSafe for iPhone13 is our favorite case for iPhone 13. It's thin and light, easy to use, and offers excellent protection. But there's also a new version with MagSafe.

While we love the classic gripmunk design, we've always wished there was more room inside. That's why we're happy to report that the latest model offers up to 15% more space. We also appreciate the addition of a MagSafe connector, which makes it easy to attach your phone to any power outlet. And while the price may be higher than other cases, we think the value proposition here justifies it.

The Gripmunk isn’t as slick looking as some other cases — especially if you're into the rose gold trend — but its grippy edges make up for it. The soft material feels great in hand and gives it a nice heft, though it does take time getting used to. You'll also notice that the front of the case is slightly concave, making it easier to hold onto the device without feeling like you're going to drop it.

Other great basic cases

Caudabe's Sheath feels like an alternate take on the Gripmunk, with similar materials and design features. The flexible material Caudabe refers to it only as a “flexible polymer” is textured all the way around rather than just along the perimeter, and that certainly adds some grip. The buttons click with little resistance or dampening, and the branding is minimal. Much like the 2021 Gripmunk, the Sheath now includes MagSafe support. The biggest downside is the nearly $40 price tag, which is twice as much as what our pick from Smartish usually costs. But if you like the aesthetics of Caudabe's case, we don't think that's an unreasonable price to pay.

We've been big fans of the Apple Leather Case with Magnetic Charging Port ever since we first reviewed it last year. And now it's even better—the new version features a magnetic charging port as well as a built-in battery pack, giving you more flexibility than ever before.

Apple's new iPhone XR is available in three colors: silver, black, and gold . It costs $749, $849, and $949 respectively. The iPhone XS Max is available in six colors: white, space gray, yellow, coral, red, and blue . It costs from $999 to $1,149 depending on the model.

In terms of flaws, the Apple Leather Case isn't a forever case, and there's nothing wrong with the design itself. However, the price tag is high, and the product does seem to degrade quickly. It's also worth noting that the company warns users that using MagSafe connectors could leave an impression.

So the Apple Leather Case with MagSafe for iPhone 13 is once again our favorite with its combination of high-quality materials, all-around protection, clicky buttons, beautiful colors, and MagSafe compatibility, all of which adds up to make it the ideal leather iPhone case.

Its material tends to show wear, subtly at first with what one might describe as a patina.

What's MagSafe?

Magsafe was originally used by Apple Inc. for connecting power cords to laptops and other devices. Nowadays, the term "MagSafe" refers to a group of products made by Apple Inc., including Lightning connectors, USB cables, and adapters. These are designed to be connected to each other using magnets.

Most MacBook Pro models come with a magnetic strip on the back side of the computer’s keyboard. You can use your iPhone 6/6 Plus as a power bank if you attach the included USB cable to both devices. For more information about how to charge your phone wirelessly via AirPower, read our guide.

Apple's Official Cases

I've been using the Leather Case since my first iPhone came out more than five years ago. It still looks great, but it's also starting to show some wear around the corners. That said, it's still holding up well after hundreds of hours of use. My favorite part about it is how thin it feels in your hand — even if you drop it, it won't break or crack. And unlike other leather cases, there's nothing inside that could get dirty.

The Silicone Case is designed for people who want something less protective. It's thinner, lighter, and easier to grip, but it's made entirely of hard plastic. It's got a nice texture, and it's easy to tell what side is up because it's matte black instead of shiny white. But while it protects the phone better, it's also harder to clean.

Best Overall

I've tested a bunch of cases over the years , but this one took me by surprise. The Caudabe Sheath is made of a flexible polymer material that's got a unique textured surface. It's grippy and very light. There are four magnetic charging ports, and MagSafe is built into the right side. But as I mentioned earlier, there's a tiny bump on the center-left edge of the case. I'm hoping it won't be much of a problem, since most folks will probably use the left side anyway, but if you're concerned about it, you might want to check out the second version we'll talk about here.

Best Cheap Case

It's cheap and slim, has MagSafe, and isn't awful to look at (if a little nondescript). If you want to pay as little as possible for a case, Spigen's your best bet. The buttons are responsive, all four edges are covered, and it's very easy to access the mute switch. The front edges around the screen are raised too, but only a little.

Source: wired.com

The iPhone 4S is a great choice if you're looking for something affordable and reliable. It's also pretty thin, has excellent battery life, and offers a lot more than most other phones on the market. It may be a bit plain, though, and Apple hasn't done much to make it stand out.

Why you should trust us

I've been Wirecutter's case reviewer since 2014, and in my career as an accessories writer, I've reviewed around 2,000 iPhone cases. That number spans multiple generations of Apple devices, including every iPhone since the iPhone 4 and every iPad. I've probably handled more iPhone cases than almost anyone on the planet, so I have a particularly experienced perspective and depth of knowledge when it comes to these items.

What are the best iPhone 13 Pro Max cases?

There's no way to quantify what the definitive "best" iPhone 12 Pro Max is, as each person's needs will be different. You'll have to decide what ultimately works best for you. To do this, make sure you consider the color, material, function, price, and all the other important aspects that might influence your purchase.

For thin, sleek protection that preserves the look of your iPhone 13 Pro Max while keeping it safe from scratches and scuffs, you can't go wrong with the Totallee iPhone 13 Pro Max Case, which is so thin it's almost like your phone isn't in a case at all. It's perfect for lighter-than-air protection, and stays out of the way aesthetically, letting the beauty of your phone shine. On the other end of the spectrum, the Otterbox iPhone 13 Pro Max Defender Series XT Case with MagSafe offers tank-like protection against drops, scuffs, scratches, and other indecencies your phone might suffer while in a pocket or in a bag.

Of course, so many iPhone 13 Pro Max users will be more concerned about how the phone they're carrying looks, rather than how protective the case is. It's an extension of our personality, so of course you'll want your phone to reflect your own style. Cases like the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max Leather Case with MagSafe come in a variety of different hues, much more than ever before, to match the way you live your life. Nomad's leather case option is also a good choice, as it promises to become more attractive over time by developing a natural patina.

In the end, you'll have to choose which case meets all of your needs, looks the way you want it to, and falls within the price range you're looking for.

How to choose the best iPhone 13 Pro Max case for you

When selecting your new iPhone 13 Pro Max case, you should prioritize keeping your phone safe from drops, falls, scrapes, and scratches. Choosing the type of material your case disc rafted from is tantamount to ensuring you have plenty of protection. The better the drop rating, the less you have to worry about a shattered screen or your phone turning off, never to come back on again. If you don't care about replacing phones when they're caput, or you just don't think you'll drop it at all, you can shift your focus to more aesthetically-pleasing cases that don't rely as much on hardy materials to protect your device.

Of course, it's also important to remember that phone cases can and do vary in price. But just because you find a $69.95 phone case from a specialty retailer, that doesn't mean you should discount the $19.95 case from Amazon. There could be a large disparity in quality between the two, in the direction you wouldn't expect. You'll have to make the decision, ultimately, taking into account which one is the most viable with each of its unique features, no matter the price, low or high.

What makes a great iPhone case

When choosing the best iPhone cases, we consider a huge number of factors for such a seemingly simple product, from objective measures such as physical dimensions and level of protection to subjective assessments of look and feel.

Although we have been testing cases for many years and have had some consistent picks across multiple iPhone generations, no case automatically becomes a pick just because we've made past versions of it a pick. With the iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max in hand, we put each new case on the phones to see how well it fit and functioned.

While we have a variety of recommendations across various styles, we consider all of the following criteria when making our picks:

Drop protection: We seek out cases that can adequately protect a phone without adding unnecessary embellishments or too much bulk. We don't conduct drop tests, but we do look for cases that are obviously capable of withstanding some impact. (Even a heavy-duty case can't guarantee that your phone will survive every scenario intact for example, a direct hit to the screen will still do damage.) The obvious exception here is superthin cases, which purposely compromise some drop protection in favor of a thinner profile.

Full coverage: As a general rule, the more of the phone that a case protects, the better; we prefer cases that protect everything but the phone's screen. The best cases provide button protection with tactility that mimics or in some instances even enhances the way the buttons feel on a bare iPhone. We also like cases that don't leave the top or bottom edge of the phone exposed, though such exposure isn't necessarily a dealbreaker. On the other hand, we don't consider cases with a circular opening to expose the Apple logo on the back of the phone because they offer less overall protection and provide no real benefit.

Raised front lip and camera ring: As Apple's case guidelines (PDF) explain, “Exposed glass on the device shall not come within 0.85 mm of a flat surface, such as a table or floor, in any orientation when the case is attached.” A lip around the edges of the phone's display helps prevent cracked screens one of the biggest worries with any smartphone but it also helps to keep the screen from getting scratched if you place the phone screen-down. We use a 0.85-millimeter feeler gauge, per Apple's guidelines, to test each case. Additionally, the iPhone 13–series devices have especially pronounced camera bumps, and the case material needs to rise taller than them to protect them.

MagSafe: Apple's MagSafe system is a bit complicated, as it encompasses magnetic wireless chargers and accessories, as well as cases with a magnetic ring built in to support them. A case without the magnetic ring may still support charging with a MagSafe charger, as long as it's thin enough, but likely won't work with a car mount or wallet. Although a case's lack of MagSafe support isn't an absolute dealbreaker, we're seeing enough great cases with MagSafe at similar prices to those without that we generally prefer them.

No interference with wireless signals or other functionality: A case shouldn't reduce performance with any wireless signals Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, NFC (near-field communication, which is necessary to use Apple Pay), or Qi wireless charging. In our tests, we verify that each of these features works with the case on. Although wallet cases may properly support wireless charging, you shouldn't expect them to, and if you need wireless charging, we recommend that you look at a folio instead. Additionally, the case shouldn't prevent you from using any gestures. That's an especially important consideration with the iPhone 13 series, which relies on an upward swipe from the bottom edge of the screen as a primary interaction.

Broad aesthetic appeal: Although you can find a case suitable for any aesthetic preference, we look for cases that have simple, even elegant designs cases that are likely to appeal to most people rather than models that adhere to specific aesthetic choices.

What to look forward to

We're going to be testing many more cases, from many more companies, in the coming weeks and months.
