iPhone 13 Pro Max
Despite having one of the brightest displays of all mobile phones this year, and listening to a lot of YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, and podcasts in the past 7 days, the battery life is incredible.
In general, this phone seems to be able to keep up with the times better and smoother.
Compared with my mobile phone upgrade 3 years ago, this is an obvious change, so far I am very impressed.
After I have the opportunity to test it more, I will return to this review with an update (and its opposite, the normal iPhone 13 Mini).
If you're an iPhone shopper looking to replace a worn-out phone, you can spend over 1000 PS and a minimum of two days of battery life if needed, the 13 Pro Max.
The 13 Pro is an important sign that there isn't one iPhone that fits everyone.
Unlike last year, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max vary in size, battery life, and price, but now both phones have the same set of cameras.
The phones are priced the same as the latest 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max and come with upgraded cameras, a larger battery, and an A15 Bionic chip.
By combining the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max with features that many of us have wanted for years, including high refresh rate displays, Apple has further defined the difference between Pro and non-Pro phones.
In contrast, three years ago, Word Pro sounded more like a marketing term than a sign that the phone was more professional than the ordinary iPhone.
The 13 Pro Max ships with iOS 15, which works on all Apple smartphones starting with the 2015 iPhone 6S, including the 13 Pro.
There are several additions in the software for a larger screen, such as dual-pane calendar views, app settings, and others when in landscape orientation.
The displays feature what Apple calls ProMotion, which means the iPhone supports a high refresh rate for the first time ever.
The 13 Pro adds a third major improvement - a high refresh rate display.
Updating the battery, camera, and screen sounds like an iterative annual update; they are similar to the so-called S update Apple performed on the iPhone before the iPhone naming scheme became unpredictable.
The Face ID camera notch at the top of the screen has been reduced compared to previous generations, but iOS only displays the same number of icons and times on both sides of the iPhone 12 or earlier.
Apple iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max can be unlocked through Face ID, which can be used with 12MP front cameras that support Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion, night mode, movie mode, night selfie mode, etc.
Several Pro-only features are limited to the three-lens system, including macro and close-up video with 2 cm focus, night mode with telephoto support, night mode portrait with lidar scanner, and ProRes video recording.
It allows users to record 4K ProRes video at up to 30 frames per second.
Movie mode is shot in Dolby HDR, while depth of field and blur can be adjusted using the iPhone camera app.
Both iPhones have a maximum HDR brightness of 1200 nits, plus True Tone to match the color temperature of the display to the ambient light, the wide color gamut provides rich, vivid colors, and Haptic Touch provides feedback.
The main camera features a new sensor, the largest in an iPhone. On the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, this quirk is still present, especially if you have string lights in your shot, but overall it's better.
Using the iPhone Pro resulted in brighter photos, but the improvement was not always noticeable.
While I was a little jealous of the iPhone 12 Pro Max's larger screen and improved rear cameras, I didn't miss them and was happy with my choice in the phone.
As with the regular iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, the 13 Pro's most important updates are in battery life and camera system.
Both new models are equipped with Super Retina XDR OLED displays, support ProMotion technology, and the adaptive refresh rate ranges from 10Hz to 120Hz, just like the iPad Pro models.
Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion provides faster and faster response speed.
Apple's screen brand is "Super Retina XDR Display with ProMotion", and an important part of it is ProMotion, which was previously only available on iPad Pro.
Apple's latest A15 Bionic processor is one of the fastest processors you can get. When combined with a 120Hz screen, the 13 Pro Max responds very quickly.
Which processor the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max uses?
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max use Apple's A15 Bionic processor, which has a 16-core neural core, a 6-core CPU (with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores) and a 5-core GPU.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have been officially announced alongside the 9th Gen iPad, 6th Gen iPad Mini, Apple Watch Series 7, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini in a virtual press event filmed and recorded at Apple Park at Cupertino, California. September 14, 2021.
As I wrote before the launch of the iPhone 13 series, I was hoping Apple would not split the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in terms of camera quality, and it did.
However, I'll start by pointing out that this camera system is one of the things I'm talking about when I say the 13 Pro is the phone for people who care about details.
But if there is one place that I think it makes sense to refer to the iPhone “Pro” as “for professionals,” I think it's the primary wide-angle camera.
But the camera bumps on both phones are significantly larger, which means the 12 Pro's cases don't fit on the 13 Pro.
Battery charge cycles are limited and your Apple service provider may require you to replace the battery.
Charging time will vary depending on settings and environmental factors; actual results will vary. Don't try to charge a wet iPhone; see user manual for cleaning and drying instructions.
You can feel the 13 Pro Max's weight in your hand, pocket or purse, making it difficult to hold it with one hand for extended periods without fatigue.
While I regularly use Android phones the same size or larger than the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the flat edges of Apple's latest phones mean they don't fit as well in my hand.
